Community Partnership
The school values the links that it has developed with the community and continues to explore avenues to foster these further. To support this process the school runs adult education, a toddler group and is a venue used by the local community for lettings and charity events.
We continue to work closely with our partner primary schools. Future projects include:
  • Joint staff training

  • Governor liaison meetings

  • Inter school sports competitions

  • Public speaking competitions

  • Collective School Council Meetings

  • Gifted and Talented Days

Sporting links with the major sports clubs in Colchester are well established and are set to continue. These include:
  • Colchester United FC - football in the community

  • Colchester and East Essex Cricket Club - kwik cricket programme and school coaching

  • The Ormiston Centre - netball and football

We have exhibited at the First Site Art Gallery in Colchester and regularly contribute art work to various events and competitions across the local area.
We nurture musical talent through our choir regularly attending a variety of concerts, peripatetic music lessons and encouraging pupils to attend special music workshop days.
The headteacher is a member of the Old Heath Task Force who meet monthly to try and develop the experiences and opportunities available throughout Old Heath.
Regular visits are made to our partner playgroups by our reception class teacher and headteacher to support a sensitive induction of our new pupils in to the school. We also hold teddy bear picnics where we invite all playgroups to our school. We value our links with local churches and the health service.
